‘Handsome Just Like His Dad’: Richard Gere’s Son Makes Rare Appearance, Sparking Buzz

Richard Gere was recently in New York City with his wife, Alejandra Silva, for the City Harvest 2025 Gala; however, it was the actor’s son who stole the spotlight in a rare public appearance.

Fans couldn’t stop raving about the “Ocean’s Eleven” star’s son, Homer James Jigme Gere. The 25-year-old appeared at ease, attending the prestigious event alongside his father and Alejandra.

Homer matched his dad in style, as they both wore navy-blue tuxes with white button-ups. Richard’s hair was combed back in its signature style, while Homer’s tousled brown locks shone in the light as they posed for photos.

Alejandra also dressed elegantly for the occasion, matching the boys’ color scheme with a navy mesh gown—embellished with golden embroidery—and draped a coordinating scarf around her shoulders.

Homer is Richard’s son from his previous relationship with actress Carey Lowell. Following his appearance in New York City, fans quickly flooded social media with compliments.

“Son is handsome just like his dad!❤️❤️❤️,” one commenter raved. “Wow, the son is handsome,” another wrote. “His son could be the future SUPERMAN 😍❤️😂😮😮😮” a fan gushed. “Son gorgeous,” said another.

Others saw how much he resembled his mother. “Actress Carey Lowell is his Mom…he is her spitting image not Richard’s look a like [sic],” one wrote. “Homer looks just like his mom, Carey Lowell,” another observed.

It’s not the first time Homer’s public appearance sparked buzz online. Last year, he made headlines after attending the Cannes Film Festival with his father and stepmother.

Stepping out dressed to the nines, Alejandra adorned a stunning black floral print gown while her dashing beau and stepson rocked classy black suits with matching bow ties and white dress shirts.

Although pictures of all three of them were certainly a sight to behold, what piqued the attention of fans specifically was Homer and his charming aesthetic.

“His son is gorgeous!” gushed an admirer online. Similarly, another added, “Wow his son is so good looking!” while someone else swooned, “So handsome!” “Beautiful guy!” wrote another fan contributing to the overwhelming amount of praise Homer received.

On the other hand, other people diverted their focus to the striking resemblance Homer shares with “his beautiful mom,” famous actress Carey Lowell. “Homer looks just like his mom,” noted a Facebooker. Echoing the sentiment further, another commented, “The son’s [a] spitting image of his mom.”

Not only did Carey’s lookalike son hit the jackpot in terms of his appearance, but according to his father, he also has a heart of gold. Richard once described the 24-year-old Brown University student as “very sweet, very sensitive,” and “very smart.”

“He’s smarter than me, stronger than me, faster than me, taller than me, better than me. He’s great. I love him,” Richard said while discussing Homer in a 2019 interview. When it comes to his son and family, there is nothing the “Shall We Dance?” actor wouldn’t do for them.

“Your family is more important than anything,” asserted Richard in a past interview. During the same interview, the interviewer asked him whether or not he takes his family into account before signing on to do a project.

“My film decisions are mostly mine, but I’m very careful about not being away from my son, Homer James Jigme Gere, for very long. So […] I talk to him about it, and if there is a problem, I don’t take up the project. And I have done that,” Richard previously disclosed when Homer was younger.

Interestingly, although Richard previously mentioned that there have been a number of times when Homer has influenced whether he takes a film job or not, when it comes to being privy to his many movies and how deep his stardom goes, Homer is only modestly aware.

Richard Gere expanded on this and more details about Homer James Jigme Gere in an exclusive interview he did earlier this year, where he divulged previously unknown information about his home life with Alejandra Silva and their kids.

In addition to Homer, Richard is also a father to the two sons he shares with Alejandra, Alexander and James Gere. Richard is also a stepdad to Alejandra’s son, Albert Friedland.

When asked about home life, one of the things that Richard divulged is how he and his family tend to settle down early due to the fact that they still have kids who are very young (eleven, five, and four). “The truth is that we don’t go out much,” revealed Richard.

“So around nine thirty at night we are all asleep. If we watch something, it will be on the big television we have at home,” Richard added when questioned about whether he had watched any movies recently.

When the topic of films came up during the discussion, Richard, who admitted to being “a little shy about seeing” himself on screen, brought up Homer and stated, “He doesn’t understand it. And it is also very difficult for him to see me on the screen because, even if I play an extreme character, I am still his father and it is difficult for him to get into the story.”

Despite not knowing much about the characters his father plays, when it comes to performing, the artistic gene runs strong in the Gere family. In addition to his studies, Richard revealed that Homer had started to explore the world of acting and filmmaking, sparking a new shared interest with his father.

Of his filmmaking and acting interests, his doting dad proudly boasted, “He’s been writing and directing little movies, so we have this new thing in common.”

Homer is also a music lover. According to Richard, his early musical inclinations have evolved since “hitting the piano when he was a kid.”

Richard, who started as a musician before venturing into acting, confirmed that Homer had studied piano for two years before quitting. His dad then encouraged him to try his hand at another instrument which led to him playing the drums, though that too, was short-lived.

However, Homer is “now a vocalist in a punk band,” after he started playing with his musical group, showcasing his diverse creative talents.
