A sharp remark from the commander-in-chief aimed at the global pop star has sparked a wave of reactions online.
On May 16, 2025, President Donald Trump sparked backlash after making a controversial statement about Taylor Swift on Truth Social. His words have drawn reactions from across the political and entertainment spectrums, especially because he has mentioned her before.

Recently, the president took to his social media platform and wrote, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?'” The message quickly circulated across the world.
This was not the first time Trump publicly expressed disdain for the singer. On September 15, 2024, he posted the simple yet incendiary message, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

The timing of that post raised eyebrows, as it came shortly after Swift had publicly endorsed Trump’s opponent, Kamala Harris, in the 2024 presidential election.
In a detailed Instagram post, Swift addressed political misinformation and stated her intent to vote for Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, in November.

She criticized the spread of AI-generated content falsely endorsing Trump and voiced support for causes she believed needed “a warrior to champion them.” She also called her fans to action, reminding them to register to vote.
Reactions to Trump’s most recent comment were quick and varied. Many people, including some of his followers, took issue with the tone and substance of the remark.

On X, one person wrote, “He’s messing with the wrong woman!” Another simply called it “Strange.” A third echoed the sentiment with a single word: “Childish.”
On Instagram, people were more direct. One said, “What an odd thing for a president to say.” Another commented, “So rude please take this down .. this is not presidential . Would you want Kai acting like this online ? This is why you can’t get everyone behind you. I support you fully , but this is not acceptable [sic].”

One person stated, “This post was totally unnecessary!!! Keep doing great things for the country and knock off the childish behavior!” while another asked, “Why would you say this!!π€―” Even on Facebook, the disbelief continued, with a viewer posting, “This can’t be real, right?!?”
This is the second time this year that Donald Trump has commented publicly about Swift. In April, he referenced the Super Bowl, where Swift appeared on the big screen and was seemingly booed by some in the crowd. In a press conference, Trump asked, “How did that work out?” apparently referencing her declining popularity.

The Super Bowl booing was brief, but at the time, it caused a huge stir among netizens. As reported previously, Taylor Swift attended the February 9, 2025, game at the Superdome in New Orleans to support her partner, Travis Kelce.
Unlike last year, when Swift was greeted with cheers, this time, she was met with loud boos when shown on the stadium’s video boards during the first quarter.
Seated next to rapper Ice Spice, the pop singer appeared surprised, giving a slight side-eye and wrinkling her nose in response. Swift and Kelce have been a high-profile sports-and-entertainment power couple since last season, when Kelce first invited her to watch him play.

Their relationship gained widespread attention, especially after Swift made a last-minute journey from Tokyo to Las Vegas for last year’s Super Bowl, where she was seen celebrating the Chiefs’ victory grandly.
This year, however, the atmosphere was different. The game ended with the Eagles securing a dominant 40-22 victory over the Chiefs. This loss and Swift’s unexpected reception made headlines and had netizens talking. But their reactions were mixed.
Some users agreed with the crowd’s response, expressing fatigue over Swift’s frequent presence in NFL coverage. One commenter wrote, “She was booed by everyone! It’s about time!” Another added, “Its not even necessary personal, just tired of seeing her, gawd [sic]!”
Others viewed the reaction as part of a broader trend, with one person saying, “Love the culture shift people are getting really tired of celebrities π [sic].” Another user bluntly stated, “She didn’t win any grammys, the Chiefs lost the super bowl, and Taylor was booed. This is a great start to 2025 [sic]!!!”
However, many fans were confused by the booing and defended Swift. One user pointed out, “Strange, considering she sold out that stadium on her own three times over less than 5 months ago.”
Another wrote, “She’s laughing because she’s worth more than everyone else in the stadium combined π.” Others questioned why Swift was being targeted at all, with one fan stating, “I never understood why they boo her. She’s just supporting her boyfriend.”

Another added, “More misdirected anger, all she’s doing is sitting there. if y’all don’t want to see Taylor Swift in any football spaces, take it up with the nfl who’s been milking her fame since the start of her relationship [sic].”
Some responses went beyond defending Swift, calling out those who booed her. A user remarked, “Imagine booing Taylor Swift for β¦*checks notes*β¦ existing and watching her boyfriend play a football game.”
Even tennis legend Serena Williams, who performed at the Halftime Show with Kendrick Lamar, tweeted, “I love you @taylorswift13 dont listen to those booo [sic]!!”
Whether a sign of celebrity fatigue at sporting events or something else, the boos for Taylor Swift at the 2025 Super Bowl while she supported Kelce underscored the challenges of fame.
