Authorities have named eight victims in the June 21 Lake Tahoe boating accident, including a tech company executive.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) announced the identifications on June 24, following several days of coordinated operations involving multiple agencies. The victims had been aboard a 27-foot Chris-Craft vessel that capsized during a sudden summer storm near D.L. Bliss State Park.
According to family members who spoke with KTVU, the boat was owned by Joshua Antony Pickles, 37, a DoorDash executive from San Francisco. He died alongside his parents, Paula Bozinovich, 71, and Terry Pickles, 73, both of Redwood City, California.
Also among those who died were Peter Bayes, 72, of Lincoln; Timothy O’Leary, 71, of Auburn; Theresa Giullari, 66, and James Guck, 69, both of Honeoye, New York; and Stephen Lindsay, 63, of Springwater, New York.
A total of 10 people were reportedly on board the vessel, including the eight victims. Two individuals survived the accident, though their identities have not been released.
EDSO previously reported that the last missing person was recovered from the lake on June 23 at 2:40 p.m., officially concluding the recovery operation. Officials said the boat capsized amid unusually strong wind gusts and large waves. Video from that afternoon captured hazardous conditions on the water.
The Sheriff’s Office extended its condolences to the victims’ families and thanked the agencies involved in the response, including the U.S. Coast Guard, California State Parks, and regional fire and law enforcement departments.
