The rodeo community is reeling after losing one of its own, Valeria Mireles. According to the federation she was involved with, the social media influencer once held the title of Miss Mexico due to her prowess in the competitive equestrian sport.
The month of March brought tragedy with the loss of well-known social media influencer Valeria Mireles, 20. On March 10, 2025, the Federación Mexicana de Rodeo, A.C. (Mexican Rodeo Federation) confirmed the news in a post.
The sports club’s account shared a Facebook photo of Mireles waving while riding a horse. The caption, written in Spanish, read, “The Mexican rodeo is mourning.” Over another image of the influencer, which included a white ribbon in mourning, the federation included a heartfelt message.
It stated, “We deeply mourn the loss of Ana Valeria Mireles Villarreal.” The post also revealed that the late star was Miss Mexico from 2021 to 2022. The federation added, “We extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
In conclusion, it also noted, “Her light and talent will leave an unforgettable mark in our hearts.” The tributes continued pouring in for the late social media influencer, with her uncle, David González Morton, honoring her memory the next day.
Taking to Facebook, Morton, the former mayor of Mireles’ hometown, Sabinas Hidalgo, shared a picture of his niece dressed in a gown and cowboy hat. In the image, the late star held a microphone and wore a sash, as if she were competing in an event.
Writing in Spanish, her uncle said, “Niece Ana Valeria Mireles Villarreal, you will always live in our hearts. We’re going to miss you a lot.” Mireles’ friends also paid tribute to her through social media posts.
Sharing pictures of the late athlete on horseback with the Mexican flag and posing with her Miss Rodeo Mexico sash, Regina Garza wrote a heartfelt message in memory of her friend. Garza said, “With deep sorrow, we come together to pay tribute to the memory of Valeria Mireles.”
She also revealed that, in addition to being Miss Rodeo Mexico, the late influencer had held the title of Miss Rodeo Nuevo León from 2020 to 2022. Expressing her grief, Garza stated that the “beloved” star had “left us too soon.”
The tribute continued, “Valeria was more than a rodeo queen; she was an ambassador for cowboy culture, an inspiration to many young people. Her smile lit up every arena, and her passion for rodeo was contagious.”
“Though her passing leaves an unfillable void, her legacy will live on in our hearts and in the history of the rodeo,” said Garza. Speaking directly to the late star, her friend expressed, “Dear Valeria, we will always remember you with love. Rest in peace, our beloved queen! 🙏🏻”
She concluded, “May God bring comfort and strength to her loving family 🤍.” Another friend shared throwback images of herself with Mireles, along with photos of the late influencer’s coffin.
Writing in her native tongue, she said, “Val… my little cowgirl, I am at a loss for words to describe how much your passing hurts. You leave behind an enormous void! I am grateful that God allowed me to grow up with you and share so many beautiful moments.”
Mireles’ friend recalled the many laughs and cherished memories she would carry with her. She promised to keep the late star in her heart and mind, remembering her “sweet, smiling face.”
Garza added, “Wherever you went, you lit up the room with your presence and your light.” She assured her that this was not a goodbye but a “see you later” moment, adding, “Because in every sunset, in every moment of joy, and in every breeze, I will feel you! Your legacy will live on forever.”
Mireles’ friend believed they had gained another angel and that heaven was fortunate to have her. She concluded, “We’re going to miss you, little cowgirl! I love you so much, my sweet girl.”
Rodeo was Mireles’ life. In 2019, she shared Instagram images of herself in action, showcasing her dedication to the sport. She expressed her passion, writing, “My social life has four legs and smells like a horse🥰🐎.”
According to a Mexican publication, some reports suggest Mireles may have died in a car accident, though no official statement has been released regarding her cause of death. However, her family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
Mireles’ passing has left a void in the rodeo and social media communities. Her influence and dedication to the sport will be remembered by many who followed her journey.
