“For too long, we have turned a blind eye to the threat sex offenders pose, considering the solutions too difficult or unpalatable,” a Government source told The Sun.
“Shabana isn’t squeamish about doing what it takes to protect the public.”
“As always, she will grab this problem by the proverbials.”
Plans for a modest voluntary pilot have been rejected, according to the newspaper, since they are not tough enough.

More than two-thirds of those under 30 thought that sex offenders should be castrated, according to a poll conducted in February.
The generation’s strict law-and-order mentality is reflected in the survey conducted by Find Out Now, which found that 67% of them supported chemically castrating sexual offenders and only 24% opposed it.
Some sexual offenders intentionally seek out chemical castration, which is elective in Germany, France, Sweden, and Denmark.
Two medications are used in the procedure: one to suppress sexual thoughts, and the other to lower testosterone and suppress libido.
Cyprus is among the nations that have suggested it as a substitute for life sentences.
