Wilson, best known for her role in “Pitch Perfect,” plays a seemingly ordinary maid of honor whose friend’s wedding is violently interrupted by a group of mercenaries. The twist? Her character is an undercover secret agent. The role demanded intense action sequences, most of which were performed by stunt double Meredith Richardson.

But despite the precautions, a freak accident during filming left Wilson with a severe facial injury, necessitating surgery on her nose and raising concerns about possible permanent disfigurement.

Now appearing fully recovered, Wilson walked the red carpet in a bold red gown, featuring a plunging neckline and structured shoulder pads. Her appearance drew attention not only for her outfit but also due to speculation surrounding her recent surgery.

Online reactions were mixed, with some commenters questioning her transformed look and others applauding her apparent health and confidence. “How did she turn like this lol,” wrote one person. Another added, “Some of you are so silly. This is clearly the healthiest, most self loving version of herself.”

Wilson recently opened up about the accident that led to her needing facial surgery, describing the moment as both shocking and surreal. The injury occurred during a climactic fight sequence on the final day of shooting “Bride Hard.”

In a scene meant to depict chaos and combat, a prop gun accidentally struck her across the face. “It was just a freak accident,” Wilson said in an interview, recalling how the blow caused her nose to split open and left “a pool of blood.”

She was immediately rushed off set. “They take an ambulance, and they have to call a plastic surgeon, because if they didn’t, I would have been permanently disfigured,” she said.

Despite the incident, Wilson remained focused on the production. In “Bride Hard,” she plays Sam, a secret agent masquerading as a maid of honor at her childhood best friend’s extravagant wedding.

The event is thrown into turmoil when mercenaries take the bride hostage. The film, directed by Simon West and written by Shaina Steinberg, pairs high-stakes action with comedic elements.

Wilson’s role demanded extensive physicality. Although many stunts were handled by her double, she noted during a “TODAY” show interview that she performed several fight scenes herself.

She recalled dabbling in karate during her youth and admitted that, at 18, she once entered a martial arts competition on a whim. After being punched in the face, she decided the sport wasn’t for her.

However, she speculated that some muscle memory may have remained, which helped her take on the action scenes in “Bride Hard,” including fighting off the mercenaries who storm the wedding. She described the experience as genuinely enjoyable.

She noted that while the movie offers plenty of humor, it also features a significant amount of action, underscoring its dynamic mix of genres. In the days leading up to the premiere, Wilson was spotted in New York on June 16, wearing a bright red jumpsuit that matched her red carpet look.

Wilson also took to social media to update fans on her latest wellness challenge. She revealed she had lost one kilogram over five weeks after eliminating chocolate and ice cream from her diet, sharing a snapshot of a dinner plate featuring chicken breast and salad.

Rebel Wilson’s comeback, marked by both personal recovery and professional momentum, adds a deeper layer to her latest role — one where resilience meets action in multiple ways.

“Bride Hard” is set to bring a blend of comedy and action to audiences, while Wilson’s red carpet appearance signals her resilience following a physically and emotionally taxing experience during filming.
