A recent video of Sir Elton John has left fans both worried and compassionate, with many taking to social media to express concern for the beloved singer’s health and mobility.
The music legend was in Italy when the clip was filmed. In the video, he’s seen being helped out of a tour bus and carefully assisted as he walks and climbs a short flight of stairs. Elton and his companions later settled at an outdoor table at a restaurant.
The scene sparked an outpouring of comments from fans, some wondering about his condition, others offering prayers and support.
One person didn’t hold back their worry, asking, “Does he need a hip replacement?” Another individual speculated, “Could be crippling arthritis, painful poor guy [sic].” Spotting signs of struggle, someone added, “Can barley [sic] stand, is it gout?”
Amid the concern, a well-wisher offered a hopeful prayer, “I pray he gets some strength back into his legs!!🙏🙏.” One fan was heartbroken by the sight of Elton, penning, “Sad to se [sic] he needs so much help to get around 😢.”
Someone else, clearly frustrated by the situation, remarked, “It’s terrible he’s in that kind of shape … with his resources that’s completely unnecessary… a personal PT trainer could improve his mobility significantly…”
Another person defended Elton by listing his challenges and age to provide context, “He’s battled prostate cancer. He’s partially blind. Both his knees are destroyed. One of his hips destroyed. And he’s 80 years old. I think he’s doing okay.[sic]”
Aside from the concern, love for Elton also poured through the comments, with one fan writing, “Love this man who gave so much of himself to the whole world. God bless Elton we love and respect you. ❤️.”
Elton John’s health has been a cause of concern in recent months. In September 2024, he revealed on Instagram that he was dealing with a severe eye infection that had left him with limited vision in one eye.
While he noted that recovery was slow, he remained hopeful about regaining full sight. He thanked the doctors, nurses, and family members who were helping him recuperate at home and expressed confidence in his healing progress.
Later in November 2024, Elton opened up further during an interview, revealing that it was his right eye that had lost vision and that his left eye wasn’t doing well either. He spoke about how this had affected his ability to work — while he could still do interviews, returning to the studio was a different challenge, as he couldn’t see lyrics, read, or watch anything.
Still, Elton remained proud of how far he had come, maintaining a positive attitude despite the challenges. He also expressed gratitude for his family and celebrated the release of his documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late”, which reflects on his life and legacy.
Of the titles he holds, Elton is most proud of that of a father. He is dad to Zachary Jackson, 14, and Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John, 12, whom he shares with his husband, David Furnish, 62. On March 2, 2025, fans swooned over the couple’s sons after their appearance at his Oscars charity event.
