A tragic home invasion in Encino, California, has claimed the lives of ‘American Idol’ executive Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas DeLuca. Raymond Boodarian, 22, has been arrested as the prime suspect.
A Southern California neighborhood is in shock after the deaths of television music executive Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas DeLuca, following what authorities suspect to be a violent home invasion that escalated to tragedy.

On Monday, July 14, 2025, the bodies of Robin Kaye, 70, and her husband, Thomas DeLuca, were found inside their upscale home in Encino, California. Robin Kaye had an impressive career as a music supervisor on the popular show “American Idol.” She was deeply respected by the music community and beloved by her colleagues.

By Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) had identified Raymond Boodarian, 22, as the suspect in the murders. Boodarian, a local resident who lived just 13 minutes away in a nearby condominium complex, was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder. Authorities suspect the couple was killed during a break-in at their $4.5 million property.

Boodarian’s arrest was made possible by fingerprint evidence found inside the couple’s home and surveillance footage showing him in the area. LAPD reports that there is no evidence of any personal relationship between Boodarian and the victims, further suggesting this was a random act of violence.

Boodarian, who was known in the neighborhood for his troubling behavior, had been previously arrested on multiple misdemeanor charges in 2023 and 2024. Neighbors described him as a frequent drug user, and many reported feeling unsafe due to his behavior. “He would often be outside high,” said one of the neighbors, Madlen Amrani, who witnessed his arrest and mentioned that Boodarian did not resist when taken into custody.

The arrest came shortly after a troubling incident in the area. On Thursday, July 10, 2025, a neighbor noticed someone climbing the fence of Kaye and DeLuca’s home and promptly alerted the authorities.

The entertainment community, especially the “American Idol” family, is mourning the loss of Robin Kaye. A spokesperson from the show expressed their condolences, saying, “We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing. Robin was an integral part of the Idol family since 2009 and was deeply respected by everyone who worked with her.”
The spokesperson added, “Robin will forever remain in our hearts, and we send our deepest sympathy to her family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”
