All eyes were on one high-profile couple as they made a striking entrance at one of Broadway’s most talked-about premieres of the season.
George Stephanopoulos and Ali Wentworth turned heads on the red carpet at the Broadway opening night of “Good Night and Good Luck” at Winter Garden Theatre in New York City on April 3, 2025.
The couple posed together in coordinating formal attire, drawing both praise and criticism across social media platforms.
Wentworth wore a full-length, form-fitting black gown with long sheer sleeves and ruched detailing along the waist. She completed her look with pointed black heels, a black clutch, and bold accessories β most notably two stacked gold-and-black cuff bracelets on her right wrist.
Her blonde hair was swept back in a loose, elegant updo, and her makeup was understated, highlighting her natural features.
Stephanopoulos complemented her look in a sharp black pinstripe suit, paired with a white dress shirt and a gray polka-dot tie. He wore black dress shoes and glasses. The two smiled for photographers and walked hand-in-hand into the venue.
Their appearance prompted a wave of reactions on TikTok, where many focused on Stephanopoulos’ facial features. One person wrote, “His teeth don’t look like they fit his mouth anymore.” Meanwhile, another opined, “What happened to his teeth???” A third added, “Does he have a really bad facelift?”
On Instagram, the feedback followed a similar trend. One person asked, “His teeth [sic]?” while another commented, “Ridiculous veneers @gstephanopoulos.” A separate remark read, “And what’s with his teeth π [?]”
However, not all commentary was critical. Some praised the couple’s appearance and chemistry. One person noted, “Such a georgous coupleβAli and George π [sic].” Meanwhile, someone else added, “Such a fun couple! I’d love to crash that party π₯³.”
Away from the red carpet, Wentworth offered fans a glimpse of what appeared to be a celebratory moment from the same evening. In a selfie shared to her Instagram account, she posed alongside Stephanopoulos, Drew Barrymore, and CBS President and CEO George Cheeks.
The caption read, “Actually a Big double date with the Greek boys!” The group appeared to be in high spirits, suggesting the night held more than just a red carpet appearance for the couple.
The opening night marked George Clooney’s much-anticipated debut on the New York stage, and the turnout reflected the weight of the moment. Hollywood heavyweights filled the audience, including Jennifer Lopez, Uma Thurman, and Cindy Crawford, who attended with her family.
Also present were Pierce Brosnan and his wife Keely Shaye Smith, along with leading broadcast figures such as Gayle King and Lesley Stahl.
The night marked a milestone for Clooney and served as a gathering point for industry elites, who came together to support a production already drawing significant attention in its debut run. “Good Night, and Good Luck” is scheduled to run at the Winter Garden Theatre through June 8, 2025.
Clooney’s Broadway debut comes on the heels of a notable shift in his career. Just last month (March 2025), the 63-year-old Oscar winner, who has been a household name for over three decades, revealed in an interview with CBS News’ correspondent Jon Wertheim that he is stepping away from romantic films, citing age and changing perspectives in the industry.
At the time, the “Oceans Eleven” star also revealed that he would be making his Broadway debut in April, starring in an adaptation of “Good Night, and Good Luck.”
While discussing his evolving career, Clooney made it clear that his days as a romantic lead are behind him. “Look, I’m 63 years old. I’m not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men. That’s not my job. I’m not doing romantic films anymore,” he stated.
The “Gravity” alum’s life has changed significantly from his early days in Hollywood. Once known as a bachelor living with a pet pig, he is now married with two children. His wife and kids have temporarily moved from their home in Europe to join him in New York for his Broadway debut.
Although he is embracing this new chapter, Clooney reflected on how different his career might have been if he had pursued theater earlier. When asked if he wished he had done Broadway sooner, he responded, “I don’t know that I could’ve. I wasn’t– I didn’t do the work required to get there.”
With the opening night of “Good Night, and Good Luck” set for April 3, the beloved actor said he was prepared for an intimate experience with audiences.
